Generous Support from Red McCombs Covers Previously-Announced Ticket Price

AUSTIN, Texas – Jan. 6, 2011 – The 2011 Texas Inaugural Committee today announced that tickets for its BBQ Lunch on January 18, which were previously $8 per person, are now available at no charge at www.2011TexasInaugural.com.

“On behalf of the great Governor and Lt. Governor we have here in Texas, I’m happy to provide BBQ to the good people of Texas on inauguration day,” said Red McCombs.

“We’re delighted to offer Texans the opportunity to keep more of their money while celebrating the inauguration – it’s just one more reason to take part in this historic event,” said Weisie Steen, chair of the 2011 Texas Inaugural Committee. “Thanks to generous donations to the Inaugural Committee, ticketholders will be treated to a Texas-sized BBQ!”

The swearing-in ceremony for Gov. Perry and Lt. Gov. Dewhurst is free and open to the public on January 18 at 11 a.m. on the South Steps of the State Capitol. The BBQ Lunch will follow the inaugural ceremony on the Capitol grounds and it is a ticketed event. It will feature live music, entertainment and a plate of world-class Texas BBQ. A limited number of tickets are available through www.2011texasinaugural.com for a one-cent processing fee or request forms can be faxed in for free.

AUSTIN, Texas – Jan. 3, 2010 – The 2011 Texas Inaugural Committee today announced that Texas-based musicians Clay Walker, Pat Green, Eli Young Band and special guest Bonnie Bishop are scheduled to perform at the Evening Inaugural Celebration on January 18 at 7:30 p.m. at the Palmer Events Center.

The 2011 Texas Inaugural Committee has secured guest lodging in Austin for those attending the Inaugural on January 18.

AUSTIN – Dec. 21, 2010 – The 2011 Texas Inaugural today announced that following the swearing in ceremony for Gov. Perry and Lt. Gov. Dewhurst on Jan. 18th at 11 a.m., a family-friendly BBQ will be held on the grounds of the Texas State Capitol.

AUSTIN – Dec. 7, 2010 – Gov. Rick Perry and Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst today announced that appointment of inaugural committee finance chairs George Seay of Dallas and Jeff Hildebrand of Houston. The theme of the 2011 Inaugural is: Texas - Where Opportunity Still Looms Large.

“We’ve assembled a strong team and Anita and I are thankful for their support,” said Gov. Rick Perry. “As we celebrate opportunity throughout this great state, we’re inviting everyone to join us for the inauguration in Austin on January 18th.”

AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry has named Ida Louise “Weisie” Steen of San Antonio chair of the 2011 Texas Inaugural Committee. Patty Huffines of Austin and Lana Andrews of Dallas have also been named as vice chairs of the committee.

Steen is an investor, former teacher and school administrator, and a director of Frost National Bank and its parent company, Cullen/Frost Bankers Inc. She is a regent of the Texas A&M University System, chair of the A&M Campus Art and Aesthetic Improvement Committee, and a member of the A&M committees on Finance and Academic and Student Affairs. She is also an advisory council member and past board chair of San Antonio Academy, a sponsor of the Charity Ball Association, and past trustee of the Santa Rosa Children's Hospital Foundation Endowment Fund, Ecumenical Center for Religion and Health, and Southwest Texas Methodist Hospital Foundation. Steen is a past co-chair of San Antonio's Cattle Barons Gala benefitting the American Cancer Society and a past member of the 2007 Texas Inaugural Committee. She received a bachelor's degree from Trinity University.
